There is a direct link between proper sleep and health. If you are not getting enough sleep at night, then you could be putting your health at risk. Fortunately, there are several ways that you can improve your sleep.
Stick to Your Sleep Schedule
Try to get up and go to bed around the same time every day, even on weekends. This will regulate your body’s internal clock.
Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol
Caffeine is a stimulant, and should be avoided too close to bedtime. Likewise, alcohol will inhibit your brain’s ability to gain restful sleep.
Change Your Room
Your bedroom should be free of distractions, other than books or other calming activities. Turn off your phone (or set it to vibrate), and turn the thermostat to a comfortable temperature.
Relax Before Bed
Start a relaxing ritual before bedtime, such as a warm bath or a bit of reading. Self-care can do wonders for both your stress levels and quality of sleep.
