How To Avoid Colon Health Problems

There are many problems that can be caused by poor colon health.  These are such things as hemorrhoids, fissures, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, anomalous growths, constipation, colon cancer and crohn’s disease.  Although all of these diseases and health problems are very bad, they can be prevented with good colon health care.  This article will outline a few preventative measures that you can take that will help to ensure your colon health both now and in the future.

Be sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.  You have all heard this for as long as you can remember, but the simple fact is that if you eat more fruits and vegetables, your colon health will improve.

Stay away from sugar.  This one is a hard one especially if you have a sweet tooth like me, but it can be done.  If you will do this for 30 days in a row, it will soon become a habit and you will be surprised at how much better your body feels once you give up sugar.  Sounds impossible, but it is not.

Do not eat processed foods.  This one is hard as well because in today’s busy world we all want our food fast and the easiest way to get it fast is by running through the local drive through, this is not good for you at all.  Even in the grocery stores we are tempted to purchase something that is fast and easy to make because we all lead busy lives.  Take some time to slow down and make a good meal without processed foods and you can count on the fact that you are improving your colon health.

Do not drink soda and alcohol.  This one is not quite so hard because soda is just a drink and is easier to give up, but for some folks it can be impossible.  Most soda contains caffeine and caffeine is a drug that is very addicting.  It may take you some time, but if you are willing to give up soda you will soon find that you feel much better than when you were filling your body with it.  Alcohol is not a problem because I don’t drink but for others it may take some getting use to.

Avoid dairy products.  It is best to stay away from dairy all together if you can, the body has a hard time digesting it and therefore it can do harm to your colon health.  It may be that you will have to wean yourself off of dairy slowly because dairy is in so many products these days.

Keep a diary.  This is a great way to find out which foods affect your body and in what way.  This is a great way for your own body to tell you what you should avoid.
