Why every diet plan should include chocolate

It is common knowledge that a healthy diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and lean proteins. If only chocolate were a food group, right? Well, the chances of that happening are slim, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a small piece now and again. In fact, if you’re trying to lose weight, chocolate candy coins and other small bites may help keep you on track.

Why? It’s quite simple, really. When you deprive yourself of something, you want it more. If you keep telling yourself you can never have chocolate, candy, cake or other treats, your brain goes into overdrive and that’s all you can think about.

But, if you allow yourself to indulge, just a little, then you won’t constantly be thinking of food that you can’t have. The trick, of course, is to not overindulge, or indulge too often.

Many nutritionists and weight loss experts agree that it’s ok to have that small piece of cake or pie as long as you do so in moderation. The frequency at which you ‘cheat’ will depend upon how quickly you want to lose weight and how much you must lose. The more ‘non-cheat’ days you have, the quicker you’ll lose weight.

But if you want to stay on track and achieve steady weight loss, have more energy and feel great about yourself, then you should let yourself have a bit of non-diet food. Many people allow themselves one day a week to indulge. You don’t need to eat an entire cake or a whole box of cookies. For most of us, just a small taste will do the trick; it is enough to keep us satisfied. Yes – we can have our cake and eat it too! Chocolate candy coins are the perfect size for having your chocolate and staying on your healthy diet plan.
